Some Ideas for a Baby Shower

These are the items that I made for my Daughters Baby Shower. She is expecting a Sweet Baby Girl!! All the items were made either from or using scrapbooking paper and or Cricut cartridges. The color scheme for the Shower was Pink and Lime green which at times were very hard to find.

Baby showers are not something that’s new. In fact, the history of them goes quite a ways back. Female friends and family members would gather together to talk about welcoming a new baby into the world and also perhaps give a few lessons to help prepare the mom to be.

If you’re trying to think up ideas for a baby shower try to keep in mind that there are really no hard and fast rules. More often than not the host will provide things to snack on, and there will invariably be a couple of games to play. A lot of this is going to depend on the type of people you are thinking of inviting. Wherever possible try and cater to the different tastes and personalities of your guests. And don’t forget, baby showers are meant to be strictly ladies only events.

The other thing you need to consider is the cost. However, you will find that more than likely your close friends and relatives will chip in and help you cover some of the costs. Having a new baby can prove to be very expensive, so you should set yourself a budget and try to stay within that.

Things you will need to consider and allow for in your budget includes stuff like invitations, food and drinks, paper plates, glasses, cutlery, cake and favors. You also need to consider where it will be held. If the numbers are few, then holding it at someone’s house makes the most sense.

It’s also customary for guests to bring small gifts for the new baby or even for the new mom or dad. The most common type of gifts are those that you are really going to need when your new baby arrives. Things such as clothes, baby toys and diapers are always welcome as are all the little extras you will need such as bibs, shampoo, pacifiers and bottles etc.

Another of our ideas for a baby shower involves the making or buying of favors. If your budget allows, then the easiest and quickest way to cover this item is to go out and buy them. But if you are cost conscious and need to stay within your budget then homemade favors usually go down well. Why not invite a few friends or relatives around and spend an evening chatting and making favors.

Another way you can save a few dollars, if you have a computer, is to design the invitations yourself. Or, if you’re not that much of a techie, ask someone nicely to do it for you. You can then either print them off and mail them or send them by e-mail.

A baby shower can be as big or small as you like. It all depends on your circumstances and how many friends and family you would really like to invite. When planning a baby shower remember that you’re not out to impress anyone.

Baby showers have been around a long time and it’s nice to think that this tradition is carried on through the ages. When thinking of ideas for a baby shower remember that it’s all about having fun and celebrating the upcoming birth of your new baby.
